Children's Health

As parents, we want to do all we can to keep our children super healthy. But it can sometimes be a challenge to ensure that they are getting all the nutrients they need on a daily basis – to support growth and development, immunity, healthy digestion, those high energy levels and all-round well-being.
Whether you are worried because of the distinct lack of fruit and veggies in their diet or trying to balance a restricted diet due to an allergy or intolerance you can support your children’s health with the addition of some carefully selected nutrients.
Of course, nothing replaces a healthy, varied and balanced diet, but sometimes vulnerable little bodies could just do with that extra boost while their immune systems are building and palates are adjusting.
Fruit, vegetable and other-plant based nutrients (such as vitamins, minerals, enzymes, dietary fibre, antioxidants, healthy fats and phyto-chemicals etc) are all part of the “balanced diet” that is the goal.
They provide the fuel that is needed by little bodies to grow and flourish; not to mention protect itself, recover and heal. Where these essential nutrients are not being met by diet alone (which can be very tricky to achieve nowadays), health supplements can offer a quick, easy and reliable way to top up on those nutrients.
Best supplements for kids
One of the best ways to support children’s nutritional intake, is with organic fruit and vegetable nutrients in either capsule or powder form.
Concentrated powders offer the benefit of having a high number of healthy foods crammed into a single supplement – far more than would ever be eaten on a plate at one sitting.
Your child may be very happy to drink a tasty shake but, if not, you can always disguise these powders in their favourite juice or try mixing them into food (such as stews or soups). The capsules can be emptied too!
The main advantage of opting for an organic food-form supplement, is that the ingredients are kept as close to whole form as possible. The body is able to recognise and use the nutrients as it would do when food is eaten in the conventional way.
Plus, being organic, it is pure – free of chemicals, additives or preservatives. Ideal support for optimum nutrition.
You can also support your child’s overall health, immunity and digestion by trying to introduce probiotic foods into their diet. Live yoghurt, for example, can be a good source of friendly bacteria for the gut. Cut down on sugary snacks (which feed bad bacteria and viruses) and try to support levels of good bacteria to crowd out the bad.
Unfortunately, the good bacteria found in probiotic foods do not take up residence in the tummy – they pass through the digestive tract and the body therefore only benefits from them while they are in transit. In contrast, live bacteria supplements, which do colonise, offer more long-term support.
